Dengue is a high fever contracted via a bite from an infected mosquito. In this respect it is very similar to malaria and a lot of the symptoms, cures and remedies are either the same or similar.
Instances of dengue are to be found in tropical climates such as parts of Australia, the Caribbean, north and south America, the Pacific region, Asia and Africa.
The dengue fever manifests itself in the form of severe vomiting, the appearance of a rash 3-4 days after the affliction and an ongoing severe headache. After 10 days these symptoms will subside and the negative toxins will begin their retreat. However it can take up to a month for recovery to be complete and in-between time the sufferer will still be general weak and fatigued in themselves and still suffer some of the milder symptoms of the initial ferver.
Dengue is never fatal. However there is a more virulent strain dengue hemorrhagic which can arise from complications caused by an initial infection can in severe cases kill the patient.
Ayurvedic Causes of Dengue
Dengue is an airborne disease carried by mosquitoes. So in the Ayurvedic it is vata that is affecting the overall dosha. To achieve balance in the doshas and well-being in the person once again all the negative toxins (ama) caused by the initial bite must be expelled after a course of purification, recovery and healing.
Neem as an Ayurvedic remedy for dengue
Neem holds an almost mythical place in the teachings of Ayurvedic. Its pure produce has magnificent healing properties and can be externally applied for any number of complaints and ailments, but as the neem tree has special air purifying qualities it is especially potent in alleviating such airborne diseases such as dengue.
All of the tree can be applied to the body, but for dengue a tonic made from the trees leaves is best as the leaves are a great purifying agent and should be applied on a damp warm cloth in dosages of between 15 to 60 grammes 2-3 times daily.
Though it should be noted that usage should be restricted in both males and females seeking pregnancy.
Neem Guard and Neem oil are also from Ayurvedic wholesalers and can be applied as a preventive tonic for many disorders.
Other Ayurvedic herbal remedies for dengue
Kakamachi is syrup like product that can be consumed as a soothing, cooling drink that can expel negative toxins such as those that build up during an attack of dengue from the digestive system and ultimately purify it. A cup twice daily is the recommended dosage.
Ayurvedic recommendation to prevent dengue
Boiled basil leaves served in a warm drink like tea can help prevent an outbreak of dengue. This bitter and pungent herb has all the properties that strengthen the internal system against fever. As dengue is especially prevalent during rainy seasons, at the beginning of such it is a very good idea to ingest boiled basil leaves in whichever way you choose as a prevention against the chances of infection by the fever.
If you are bitten and fear you might’ve been affected by dengue, then a few hours after the bite it is a good idea to drink a fresh juice made from basil leaves, or make a paste from the leaves with other substance, as the juice is very good at purifying infections from bites and disrupting the flow of negative toxins around the digestive system
